Introduction

The Futuring Team has been hard at work since before the 1st Planning Retreat last April in gaining input toward a new parish plan. All who participated in the last Retreat helped develop preliminary draft statements. Now is the time for parish feedback to these early drafts. This page focuses on draft mission and value statements. Please give your feedback by clicking on the button at the end of this page.

Mission Statement

Why does St. Mary Magdalen Parish exist? What is God calling St. Mary Magdalen to do and to be? What is our identity and purpose? What makes the parish unique or distinctive?  This statement is usually 30 words or less without jargon and is able to be recited from memory. What follows are the three drafts that were given highest priority at the end of the April Planning Retreat from a total of thirteen mission statement drafts.

St. Mary Magdalen Mission Statement, Second Draft

A. St. Mary Magdalen Catholic community, placing God first in all things, comes together to love as Christ loves and to serve as Christ serves.
B. St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Parish is a Eucharistic community that always places God first and comes together to proclaim the Gospel through prayer, service and the sacraments.

Value Statement

These statements reflect the core values or key beliefs of St. Mary Magdalen Parish.  Values are important for a planning process because they are guiding principles of conduct.  The drafts statements below were developed for review and critique during the April Planning Retreat.
