Sunday January 9 brings us to the end of the season of Christmas with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. With this feast the Church intentionally reminds us that Christmas is not just about the infancy of the Savior, bringing us next to the inauguration of Christ’s mission into the world. We start where Jesus started:
“After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son.’ ” Luke 3:22
This is where your mission story begins, too – as beloved sons and daughters of God.
Join us in January for our new year message series: The Rest of the Story. We reflect upon the Gospel this month as a reminder of the story God has in mind for you – to be known, loved and redeemed!
After all, we all love stories – and when we see ourselves as part of God’s larger story, we find greater meaning to our life, our choices, our purpose. We script our story with that in mind.
